Marc Sort


Marc starts his musical studies as a flautist, but soon after he expands his range of woodwind instruments with the study of the clarinet and the saxophone.

He enriches his knowledge as a saxophonist studying jazz and swing repertoires in various musical school ensembles.

Receive private tutoring, and take part in seminars and Master Classes with internationally renowned instrumentalists and composers; Michael Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Dave Liebman…

He decides to extend his knowledge of classical music and enrolls in the Liceo Music Conservatory of Barcelona where he gained the highest qualifications in his main instrument, the Saxophone: Graduate in Classical Music with Honors Award in 2000 and Mention of Honor in 2002.

These qualifications give him access to a number of public music academies where he continues teaching both individual instruments as well as chamber music groups, Combo/Ensemble, Big Band, and specific productions related to the school.
Alongside, he teaches in private music college specialized in modern music and improvisation. 

In 2009, he acquires the Graduate Degree in Jazz by the Catalonia School of Music (ESMUC), in recognition to his career as a teacher and as an artist.

His professional experience as a performer and a composer cover several areas and styles in relation to modern musical groups or ensembles with which he has collaborated in different national and international jazz and theater festivals.
He has also collaborated in a number of audio and audiovisual recordings for small musical  groups, big productions, regional and national TV programs, advertising and movies.
He devotes his spare time to the study of jazz music as a source of inspiration; to the search of traditional instruments from all over the world and their use  in modern music ; and to research of new technologies and their application in interpretation, composition and recordings.
